Do what you love, love where you do it.
Queensland Health is recruiting experienced midwives with at least two years’ experience to join our regional and rural health services.
We have a range of midwifery positions with our Hospital and Health Services located in:
- Central Queensland
- Torres and Cape
- Darling Downs
- North West Queensland
- Wide Bay.
There are many advantages to living and working in regional locations; you won’t be stuck in traffic for 40 mins on the morning commute, and you will make genuine connections with the local community.
Available positions are l
ocated in a mix of large and smaller regional facilities and maternity hubs. You may be managing a case load within a midwifery group practice or providing services under an acute care multidisciplinary model of care with options for rotating across birth suite, ante and post-natal care.
This experience will be potentially a different one for you. It will of course have its ups and downs, however feedback from midwives who work in rural and regional centres say it is highly rewarding and an excellent way to develop your career.
We can offer:
- top remuneration packages matched to your experience
- supportive workplaces to build your career
- free onsite parking at most workplaces
- access as a Private Practice midwife to Queensland Health facilities
- generous leave loading and shift work penalty rates
- up to 12.75 per cent employer superannuation contribution.
In more rural locations you are likely to work across your full scope of midwifery practice. In some settings registration as a midwife and a nurse may be desired.
In some of our more remote communities, like Thursday Island, experience caring for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, whilst not mandatory would be an advantage.
